 About Subatomic Humor

What the heck is this anyway?

Subatomic Humor is a weekly humour column. I started writing it for See Magazine, Edmonton's "urban alternative weekly" in 1996. After it had been running a few months, it was picked up by Uptown, a weekly in Winnipeg, and recently they've started running it in prairie dog, an alternative paper in Regina.

From time to time, Monday Magazine, a weekly in Victoria, runs a column, and View, a weekly in Hamilton, has run columns as well.

If you're new to this site, and just browsing about, the page of favorite columns might be a good place to go.

Why's it called "Subatomic Humor?"

I'm in a comedy troupe called Atomic Improv. When I convinced the editor of See to buy the column, he made up the name Subatomic Humour.

Personally, I don't like the name too much, but I haven't been able to think of a better one. Email me if you've got one.

By the way, Subatomic Humor used to be called Subatomic Humour, the Canadian spelling, but I was afraid I was missing search hits for "humor" so I changed it over. Yet again Canadian culture is crushed under the boot of Yankee imperialism!

Why aren't you running in more papers?

I'd love to, but I haven't had the time to seriously market to other papers. If there's a weekly in your neighborhood that you think my column should be in, call them or send them an email and tell them. You can always refer them back to this site.
