100 Years of Subatomic Humor: FAQ

When's the book going to be ready?

The book started shipping December 8.

How much does it cost?

$9.95 U.S. or $14.95 Canadian. (Actually, the credit card billing company I'm using can only bill in U.S. dollars, so if you order it through a credit card it'll be $9.95 U.S. and you'll be charged whatever the current exchange rate is.)

Shipping adds 2-3 bucks to the price, depending where you are. The ordering page has more info on that.

Where can I get it?

If you live in Edmonton, you can buy it in a book store. They're listed on my ordering page.

If you live outside of Edmonton, you can buy it through my website. If you don't have a credit card, I'll accept cheques. You can also order it through Amazon.com, but I'll make less money.

In the next couple months, I'm going to look into making the book available through book stores in other cities, but for now that's it.

Would it be available in (some foreign country)?

I can mail it to you if you order it through my website.

How big is it?

The book is 5.5" by 8.5" (landscape). It's soft cover. It's 160 pages. It contains 100 columns. It has a full-colour cover and several black-and-white illustrations. If you flip the pages, there are two little animations in the margins.

Here's what the cover looks like:

Are the articles going to be all-original or best-ofs?

It's a "best of" book. It's got 100 of my favourite articles (up to September '99).

Wouldn't it be better to write a book with some original material? Maybe a "theme" book?

Probably, but I don't have time. If this book sells well, I'd like to do something original for my next book.

Why BUY a book if it's on the Internet?

To give as a gift? So you can read it without getting eyestrain from your monitor? To decorate your bookshelf? To leave on your coffee table? Or, if you're a dentist, for your waiting room? Maybe to encourage me to write a second book. Maybe you're a relative of mine and you just feel obligated to buy it.

I might buy a book, but I've read all your columns already. If you were to start posting 3/4 of your articles here, then promising the ending in a book I'd have to buy it.

Nahh. I'm happy to let people read the column for free here on the Internet. If you like the column but you've read them all yourself, consider giving the book to someone as a gift.

I DONT KNOW WHAT SUBATOMIC HUMOR IS. IS IT SOMETHING WITH MUD?

Huh?
