You know, I was tempted to write another glib article this week, full of cheap jokes and ending with a couple cheesy bionic man references. But, let's face it -- I could go on doing that, column after column, and nobody would learn anything about history.

After all, jokes aren't what's important. History is what's important. And there are so many important events that happened on this very day, February 27th, all throughout history.

So, join me now on a little instructional journey I like to call: "Today in History."

February 27, 476: Fall of Rome; beginning of dark ages.

February 27, 1200: Dark ages half-way over; marching bands and dancing monkeys perform at half-time show.

February 27, 1300: Dark ages go into overtime.

February 27, 1480: Leonardo Da Vinci paints The Last Supper, ending the dark ages with a score of 21-14.

February 27, 1625: Galileo announces that the Earth revolves around the sun...
