I turn 30 at the end of the month and I don’t mind telling you I’m dreading it a little. I mean, I look back over my life so far and wonder if I’ve accomplished enough. By now I should have some security in my life, but so far "security" just seems to mean the people who come to arrest you at the mall.

I suppose it’s normal to feel that way as you hit 30. It doesn’t really mean anything; it’s just a number. But it feels important. It’s a crisis brought on by an odometer turning over. It’s Y3X.

It’s just a coincidence that my personal Y3X almost lines up with the world’s Y2K. And there are some similarities...
